Joshua Smith has been teaching music in both private lesson and classroom/workshop settings for over a decade. Throughout that time, he has kept a busy schedule performing throughout the U.S. and otherwise, in addition to supporting a roster of saxophone students, (as well as piano/drums). Some of Joshua's past students are now professional musicians themselves... In addition to over 15 years of private teaching experience, Joshua has conducted workshops on jazz and free/structured improvisation at several Universities in the United States and Europe. Recently, he has given lectures on improvised music, jazz and microtonal music at University of California, Berkeley. Testimonial from a former student: "I have been studying with Joshua Smith for over a year and I believe that his inspiration has been the reason why I have decided to make music the most important part of my life and even desire to make a career out of it... Since studying with Josh I have grown musically from a very base level player to a player who can play with confidence." - Aaron Shaikh (NYC Saxophonist)
